Grant Funding for Students
Having received our own degrees we know what it is like to go through school. We know that there are also a lot of wonderful students needing a little extra support for funding their research projects. HelpingScience is please to state that we offer micro grants to help you meet your goals. See "how it get funded" below for more information.
Volunteering for Students
To help make those project come true you can go to the HS Store and start pledging your HS Tokens to meet the goals of those projects in need. When you pledge your Tokens they are removed from your account and put towards the total goal of that project. If the project does not meet their goals be the end of their fund raising period they are not awarded the grant and you will be credited your pledged Tokens. If the project does meet their goals they will be awarded their grant amount and you and all the other pledgees will be acknowledged under that project.
How to pledge your tokens....
The first step is to look at the projects that need funding and select one that you wish to help. With each project you will see the amount of Tokens that have been given to the project and the amount of tokens that are remaining. Once you pledge your HS Tokens they will be removed from your account and placed towards the project. When the project has been completely pledged those tokens are then exchanged into a HelpingScience Grant to be issued for that project. You may pledge as many time as you want to as many project. So start pledging your HS Tokens now!
How to Get Funded
Grants are awarded to individuals that have been approved by HelpingScience and have received the needed pledged Tokens. So for example a $100 grant will need to received 50,000 HS Tokens pledged by any of our citizen scientist volunteers during your fund raising period. To learn more about HS Tokens and how they are earned click here. So that could be 500 people donating 500 HS Tokens or 1,000 People pledging 50 Tokens, etc... Any combination of pledges that meet your goals.
Who is eligible....
We are looking for university students that are in a biological sciences field and are working on research for their PhD. Request form is located at the bottom of this page.
Recommend size of grants....
Our grant program is a focused on micro grants to help aid in the research of our young scientists. We recommend that you keep your requests from $50 to no more then $1,000.
Spreading the word....
The quickest way to meet your goals once approved and listed in our store is to promote yourself. Ask your friends, parents, relatives, colleges, etc... to sign up on HelpingScience and spend a few minutes or a few hours a week earning points. Remember, every point they earn is also helping to discover and learn about our botanical history.
